The 65th General Assembly opened on 14 September 2010. The gathering of world leaders –– followed by intensive meetings and negotiations –– offers the international community a unique opportunity to discuss global challenges to peace, security, human rights, development and many other issues.

On behalf of the State of Israel, President Shimon Peres will address the general debate.

While the President’s remarks will be the most visible aspect of Israel’s work at the General Assembly, Israel will engage on a multilateral level on a wide range of issues, including high level participation at the Summit on the Millennium Development Goals, and the High-level meeting of the General Assembly as a contribution to the International Year of Biodiversity.
